One link for the whole group: each person writes in the chat which slice number they want and cuts it on their own phone.
The Rosca de Reyes tradition, explained
Quick answer: choose how many slices and how many baby figurines, then everyone taps a slice to cut it. Whoever finds a baby (el niño) brings the tamales on February 2, Día de la Candelaria. Play on one phone passed around, on a classroom projector or a shared screen on a video call — type names for turns — or create a WhatsApp link: each person claims a slice number in the chat and cuts it on their own phone. The babies are hidden at random by your browser, so every slice has the same chance, and nothing is stored.
The Rosca de Reyes is the ring-shaped sweet bread Mexican families share on January 5 or 6, Three Kings Day (Día de Reyes). The ring stands for the Magi’s crowns, the candied fruit for their jewels, and the hidden baby for Jesus hidden from Herod. In Spain the roscón hides a surprise figurine that crowns a king or queen and a dried bean whose finder pays for the roscón — choose Spain under Tradition. It is a favorite Spanish-class activity in January: project the rosca and let each student cut a slice.

FAQ
How do you play Rosca de Reyes in Spanish class?
Project this page, type the class list for turns (or skip names and call out slice numbers), and let each student tap a slice. Whoever finds el niño “hosts the tamales” — in class, a small prize or the next activity’s leader. It fits a January lesson on el Día de Reyes and la Candelaria.
What happens if you get the baby in the Rosca de Reyes?
By tradition you become the godparent of the Niño Dios and host a tamales and atole party on February 2, Día de la Candelaria (Candlemas). With several babies in a big rosca, the finders share the tamales.
Is it like a king cake?
They share a root: the New Orleans king cake also hides a baby, and whoever finds it brings the next cake. The Mexican rosca is eaten on January 5 or 6, while king cake season runs until Mardi Gras.
